Our DEFAULT massage is CLOTHED. If you'd like to disrobe and be between sheets, it's $10 more on each price (see "Premium" below) EXCEPT the 90 minute massage - sheets are included and not optional as clothed. We do not use oils, only a therapeutic massage creme.

Other Services:

• PREMIUM MASSAGE:  Traditional, sheeted massage in which you can disrobe just $10 more on any time slot, so for example the 60 min Premium is $85 (90 min price includes sheets).
  
• the crackberry massage - a therapist works on just your hands and arms for 20 minutes using lotion - same $26 as regular 20 min massage. Read about massage as treatment for carpal tunnel syndrome here. our crackberry massage in TIME Magazine.
• Pregnancy massage - ask for a pregnancy certified therapist once you are past your first trimester. *We do not charge more for this service as many spas or massage therapists do.
• Massage/Nap Combo - 30 minute massage + 30 minute nap on the table = happiness for $49
• 30 min nap - $15
  
• On-site services: ask about having a massage therapist come to your office. Employer or employee paying arrangements are possible.

Why Membership?

When I started Lunar Massage I picked the name for its monthly connotation, intending to follow the monthly membership model of popular massage chains in the suburbs. Since I started in March 2009, I decided to go with the buy-six-get-one-free model because I noticed in the recession that people were backing off of contracts and memberships as part of tightening up their budgets.  But I always intended to do membership as another way to make Lunar Massage the best place in DC for high quality massage and bodywork that’s not overpriced.

Right now our regular prices are about 30% less than the average DC price for massage. Our business is thriving and we’re continuing to expand. I want to make a neighborhood massage studio as common as a local yoga studio, nail place, gym, etc. As always, I believe massage should not be a luxury, but an affordable, accessible therapeutic service for everyone.

I did not want to do a monthly membership use-it-or-lose-it rate with a contract like the franchised massage industry has done – I’d have to raise my regular prices and lock people into long-term agreements and that’s just not how I roll. So the buy-in-once for greater discounts and freebies is what I decided on and it's been tremendously successful.
